As African Studies Librarian at the University of Florida I've supported the research and teaching programs of our Title VI Center for African Studies for over 20 years. I've taught a graduate credit course in library research methods fifteen times since 2000. My work in Special & Area Studies Collections allows frequent engagement with rare books, antique maps, original manuscripts, and photographic collections. I also coordinate digitization projects relating to these, creating metadata and presenting a scholarly context to support interpretation. I'm dedicated to improving scholarly discoverabiity of African related resources online through the use of Search Engine Optimization strategies.
